Adam Misses Out AGAIN!
When Adam booked his 1st trip with Caribasol in 2009, he and 5 others bagged over 500 fish between them but none of the group caught cats or carp of any real size. This time Adam came with only 2 of the original 5,Dad Mark and good friend James Dawson. This was the 2nd Caribasol trip for all 3 anglers. They all banked PB Carp but only Mark and James managed cats over 100lb! Adam had to settle for an 82lb Catfish. While Dad Mark was the happiest with a 152lb beast. James just scraped over the 100 with a 102lb Cat. Carping was going much better than their last trip. Adam banked the biggest Carp weighing 37lb. Mark was runner up with a 36lb PB and James was happy to catch his 1st 30 at 32lb after banking LOADS of 20´s to 29lb!

John Folland Returns with Son James!!!
After having a red letter day with Cariba Sol just 6 weeks earlier, John Folland re-booked another trip in the hope of banking a big fish for his 15 year old son James. They only had 3 days to succeed and the windy weather conditions were hampering getting the rods out to the required distance. However, once the baits were out the bites were regular and James soon banked a 50lb + catfish to get started. Later on that first day James was elated when he banked a 96lb catfish. James was happy to get a big fish and so insisted that his Dad was to take the next turn on the rods. John was dissapointed to lose 2 big fish over the remaining two days and to make matters worse. Ed (our co-guide)banked a 146lb fish while John and James had gone back to the apartment for the night! John did not manage to improve on his PB Catfish but he did land a new PB Carp of 35lb while James could only manage a new PB carp of 28lb!

A Day Off to Remember!!!
Once the Emrali´s departed on the 22nd, Steve Ed and friend Pete Johnson enjoyed two days fishing themselves. and one day in particular turned out to be awesome! While Steve was taking Orbay and Ozzy to Zaragoza, Ed had an 84lb Cat. The following day it was Pete´s turn on the rods. At about 3pm one rod went screaming off. The pod shook violently and the butt rest was clipped around Pete´s waiste. The ensuing battle resulted in a Cariba Sol record catfish of 186lb! Pete smashed his old PB by 40lb! Just a few hours later it was Steve`s turn to battle with a biggy! He too banked a PB of 184lb! All 3 had a celebratory drink as the sun set! A colourful end to a perfect day!

Ozzy lands the big one this year !!!
Brothers Orbay and Ozzy Emrali from London booked their 2nd trip wih Cariba Sol hoping to improve on their PBs from last November. last year it was Orbay who banked the biggest fish at 159lb. But this year it was Ozzy´s turn to bank the biggest catfish of the trip which was also a new PB at 162lb. the fishing was slower than their previous trip but the swim was less snaggy and so fewer fish were lost! Orbay could not improve his PB Catfish but he did land a 142lb cat and a new PB Carp of 35lb.

Dean Baker Walks on Water!!!
Steve received a last minute phone call from Mark Baker(A Cariba Sol regular) asking if he and his son Dean could drive down from the UK and fish. Fortunately Steve only had 2 clients fishing with him (Duncan and Ric) So the answer was yes! They turned up and were put in the next swim down river from Duncan and Ric. They decided to fish their own 2rods rather than rotate turns on 4 rods as Steve normally encourages. This decision proved to be a great move for Dean! While Dad Mark(who paid for the trip) was pulling out pasties around the 40-80lb mark. Dean was catching 100lb plus fish with each run! He ended up with 5 big fish including a 123,128,139 a168 and finally a 176lb While Dad Mark could only manage 1 fish of 126lb and 18 small ones. To rub salt in the wounds, Dean then decided to let dad fish the cat marker while he just fished for Carp. The result of that was Dad getting more small cats while Dean pulled out a PB Common Carp of 46lb!!!! Mark responded with: Next time you can pay for yourself Dean!!!
Hope to see you again soon Mark!

Duncan and Richard Bag em up!!!
Duncan Little and Richard Allen booked their first ever trip to the Ebro with CaribaSol mainly because Duncan was a former team mate of Steve´s from Maldon Rugby Club in Essex. They arrived at a swim that had been fishing well and it continued to do so as soon as they arrived! Ric banked the first of many 100lb+ cats. His 1st three fish weighed 126,123 and158lb! Duncan eased his way in with a 43 and an 85 before blowing Rics weights away with a 168lb beast!! In all they banked 40+ catfish 10 of which were over the 100lb mark. They also banked some decent carp to 37lb. They will definately be coming back again!

Dave, Channer and Wheeler Get What They Came For!!!
Dave Kear booked this trip for himself, 2 friends Stuart Wheeler and Richard Channer at the end of 2009. It seemed like an age before they actually got to fish but the wait was MORE than worth it. The fishing started slowly but as the bait started going in, the screaming runs came one after the other! The highlight was catching 16 cats in 24 hours 11 0f which were over 100lb! All 3 anglers caught PB carp and catfish. A Great trip in all and doubtless to say these lads will be back for more!!

Clarke and Co All bank A River Monster!!
When Graham Clarke and three friends booked this trip, they never would have dreamed that the fishing would be as good as it turned out! Although they were no spring chickens, they all dogged it out 24/7 on the river bank. Choosing to stay in the swim rather than go back to the comfort of the apartment at night! This paid dividends as many of the big fish were caught during the night. All four anglers banked fish over 150lb. Melvyn Bick was elated to bank the River Monster weighing in at 170lb. The Carp were illusive(due to all the big cats hanging around) So trip organiser Graham was pleased to bank the only 30lb carp of the 4 day trip.

Nick Peat Returns and Improves his PB Cat !!
This was Nick´s 2nd Caribasol trip in 2010. In May Nick came for a 7 day trip and had a great session. This inspired him to re-book for September which saw even better results! This time he caught less fish but they were bigger than in May. He managed 5 fish over the 100lb barrier. These fish ranged from 130-168lb which was Nick´s new PB. He also had a double pick up which meant our co-guide Ed banked a 146 on the cat rod while Nick was out on the boat unsnagging a 132lb fish on his carp rod!! Carp were scarce so he only managed one over 30 at 32lb.

2nd Time Lucky for Steve (Spook) Pritchard!!
When Spook booked his 1st trip in June He was the only angler who did not land a catfish. Undeterred he re-booked ,this time bringing workmate Ian Braisdell along with son Matt. The fishing was slower than usual. There were also more smaller cats coming out as well as some nice carp. But Spook achieved his goal on day 2 when he banked his PB catfish of 144lb. Unfortunately ian and Matt were plagued by small kittens for the 3 days they were here. Alas never banking the calibre of fish they were hoping for.

John Rick and Dick´s Red Letter Day!
When the lads arrived in the swim that Steve and his partner Debbie had been fishing for 2 days, only some nice carp and a few kittens had been banked. Nothing could have prepared them for their first day of fishing. The runs came thick and fast in what turned out to be a Red Letter Day for the lads. Day one saw them bank 13 catfish 6 of which were over a 100lb John Folland landed the biggest at 150lb Dick Hows landed 2 Cats of 140 and a 139lb while Rchard Brook only managed a 102lb the 1st day. The fishing returned to normal for the remainder of their trip. Big Carp were scarce (due to all the cats that were in the swim) But the lads still managed to bank a few more biggies. Richard Brook pushed his PB to 128lb Dick had 2 more tonners at 114 and 112. Whlie John was unlucky not to beat his 150 when he banked a 149 on the last day! The only big carp over 30lb fell to Richard Brook on Day 2 of the trip.

Debbie and Ed get the swim warmed up!
When we start a new session we always try to get there a few days before the clients arrive to get the swim moving with a bit of pre baiting. This time Steve brought his better half Debbie along to fish for a couple of days prior to the first arrivals. Both Co guide Ed and Debbie banked PB Carp. Ed managed to improve on his own PB increasing it to 37lb. While Debbie could only manage a 35lb PB! A few small cats showed there faces. But fortunately for The first clients (John Folland and Co) The big cats did not get feeding until they arrived!

Tony Toffello Makes Amends !
When Tony booked his first trip in 2008 He was the only memeber of his group that went home without a big catfish. He did connect with one big fish but lost it after playing it for several minutes. This time he came with different friends and piled in plenty of bait which soon saw the runs coming thick and fast. They were catching 15 to 30 fish each day. All anglers caught plenty of catfish many of them over 100lbs! The Carp were not biting so well but Tony did manage to bank a beast of 39lb.He also went home with the biggest fish of the trip weighing 157lb. Olly Pitts PB was 135lb. Ben Raven a 134lb and Gareth Palmer a 130lb.
